Pet overseas

Regulations when flying you dog or pet overseas.

Each country around the world has different regulations pertaining to pet export. When flying your dog or cat overseas you will need to know what rules and regulations the host country has. Pet travel or dog transport companies are best equipped to deal with all the requirements – kenneling, inoculations, dog transport boxes and flight bookings.

United States of America (USA) & Canada

Dogs, cats and pets to the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Your pet will need canine/feline inoculations, and boosters (3 in 1 for cats) and (5 in 1 for dogs). Rabies vaccines can not be older than one year and not less than thirty days before travelling. A Health Clearance Certificate is not needed anymore.

Hawaii has differing requirements to that of the USA mainland.

Pets to CANADA

Canada requires the same as the USA – but a State Vet endorsed Health Certificate will also be needed.

Pets to the United Kingdom

All pets require micro chipping using a ISO approved chip. This will include a certificate stating the kind of chip being used. The microchip has to be inserted before, or at the same time your pet got their last rabies vaccine. Your pet will have to wait a month before the vet can take a blood sample. This test will be sent to Onderstepoort for a Titre test. This test must be done at three months before, and not longer than twelve months before your dog or cat leaves. Animals will have to wait thirty days after the Rabies inoculation so as to build up a Titre before the blood sample is taken. Pets, therefore, will only be allowed to travel 3 months after this blood test.
Dog vaccinations will include the following -
Distemper
Parvovirus Leptosporosis
Contagious Hepatitis
Infectious Panleukopenia and
Leukose Feline are mandatory vaccinations for cats.
Every EU country requires its own health certificate.
